Abstract

|
Preduodenal portal vein is a rare anatomical varient. We report here a symptomless patient whose preduodenal portal vein was discovered at gastrectomy and reviewed the re-ported cases (61 cases including this case)
In neonate, preduodenal portal vein usually associated with other anomaly-, and may cause duodenal obstruction, so it is important to check and correct. In adult, preduodenal portal vein also may be an occasional finding during operations for biliary, gastric, or pancreatic disease, so awareness and recognition of the anomaly are essential for the avoidance of injury during such operations.
